COVID 19: Yankari Game Reserve Shutdown
Bauchi Government shutdown Yankari Game Reserve to Tourists
Just like other states in Nigeria to control the spread of coronavirus, the Bauchi government decided to lock down the Yankari Game Reserve to tourists.
On Tuesday, the Commissioner for Tourism, Alhaji Moddibbo Abdulkadir confirmed this with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
According to him, the decision is to comply to the health guidelines on the pandemic. Necessary health measures were though provided by the center, but there is still the need to restrict activities in the tourist site. The wildlife park 'On Sumo Wild Park' would also be vaccinated against all zoonotic diseases.
We have plans to fumigate the entire game reserve is also in process as another measure to fight the virus. No case of COVID 19 is detected in Yankari but it will be wise to take preventive measures because during the yellow fever incidents there were lots of publicity on it which actually affected us," he stated.
