Lone Travel vs Group Travel
Lone Travel vs Group Travel

So if you are the type that prefers solitude and your own company? Then lone travel might be right for you.
Some people wouldn't contemplate travelling alone. In fact, they consider group travel as a lonelier version. So if such a lone traveller travels with a group, it could be like a barrier for them.
However, travelling alone or travelling with a group of people are both great experiences on their own. Because both gives pleasure and it entirely depends on the individual what kind of pleasure he/she appeals most. So, ultimately the choice is a question of taste/want. Either you prefer to be a lone traveller, or do things with friends/family/acquaintance or both.

Yea, both*winks* Well, travelling alone no doubt could gives more exposure to the place you
are travelling without any negative vibes. You can certainly enjoy the beauty and culture of that place
without taking much pains, as what you have to take care about is yourself. You
can certainly make all your plans according to your wants. Travelling alone
certainly gives you time to self interrogate/discovery.
Merits of Lone Traveller
*You're the boss . No one dictate for you: where to go or what to do, and you don't have to make compromises. You can do things at your own pace, on your own timetable. It simply a self adventure.
*Manage your own budget. Whenever you travel alone, you may either choose to stay in a luxury accommodation or lounge in a less expensive hotel, and eat affordable meals. You may choose to take a private or public transport without having to worry about anyone else, and save more money. Remember that you are your own Boss.
*Meeting new people. For some people, meeting other travellers is part of the fun of travelling alone. You get to meet several people, connect and from there start networking with them, and who knows if any of these new people will be your gateway to your dream(s).
*Reflection. Some people take trips alone because they want time on their own to reflect. If you simply enjoy your own company, or want to be with your own thoughts without anyone else intruding, lone travel might be the way to go. You get to stay as low-key as you want or go ahead and join a random group of people out there just for fun sake.
Demerits of Lone Travel
Loneliness. Most lone travellers are use to be on their own, but if you're not used to being independent, you can get lonely pretty quickly. You could spend all day alone. Some people become lonely very quickly, and need the companionship of others.

Safety. Lone travel can often be risky, especially when you travel to an unknown land for the first time. Without someone looking out for you, anything could happen. Things can happen in groups, too, but lone travellers are more likely to be targets/attacks, because they appear more vulnerable. What if there is an emergency? There might be no one there to help you or take care of you.
So if you are the type that prefers solitude and your own company? Then lone travel might be right for you.
On the other hand, If you love to share activities from day 1 and experience then you must be a Group Traveller, who possibly love to try a Group Travel:
Merits of Group Travel
*Save money. Group travel is generally much cheaper. You can get group rates on accommodations, feedings, and packages. Group Travel help you reduce costs, you'll have extra money to see and do more things.
*Someone to share with. "There is love in Sharing." When you're travelling with other people, there's always someone else around to share in your good times. For many people this is the best part of travelling, as there is always someone to do things with, laugh with, share stories with, and make memories with. These are just some of the reasons travelling with friends/families is a bonus.

*Safety in numbers. No matter how small, the truth is every town or city in every country has its problems, no matter how small it is. When you journey with a companion or group, you have someone to watch your back and be there for you.
*Group travel is a lot of fun. Definitely, there's always someone around to do things with and share your experiences with, when it comes to group travel.
Most of the time, you as a person do not have to worry about finding the best accommodation or restaurant, when you travel in group. The travel/tour company that you pick or committees that you have choosen for the tour would have make the preparation for all that.
Demerits of Group Travel
*No privacy. If you're someone who values their privacy, group travel may not be for you. There could be very little chance to have any time to yourself when you're within a group, especially if you're sharing a hotel room or staying in a hostel.
*Different interests. Not everyone is interested in the same thing, and it's not always fun having to go along with a group when you are not interested in what they are doing. For instance: You want to hit the beach but your friends rather prefer to check out the museum. Your friends want to go on a bus tour, you prefer a walk tour. Such little things might not seem like a big deal, but if you constantly have to compromise to keep the group happy, your fun vacation can turn frustrating very quickly.

*Personalities clash. If you don't get along with someone in the group, travelling with them is not going to suddenly turn you into best friends. It can end up being uncomfortable for you and the others involved.
Even as a Travel Doctor, I cant 80% tell whether a Group or Lone trip would suit you best. Because a lot of it really depends on your personality in general, and what's your want/taste is like at that moment. Do you prefer to be alone, or do things with friends and family?
Well...personally, I love both. Yes, I can travel lone and also with group, depends on my want at the moment. As I love to share experience(s) with my regular folks, so also with new people, and still enjoy it. You just need to be careful. Be Safe!
